DIARY

2021

The following meetings will be held under the current Covid rules. Details will be available in an email sent by the Secretary prior to  the meeting.

NOVEMBER

Wednesday 17th - "Observations at the hive entrance" presented by Ann Chilcott 7.30 via Zoom followed by a Q & A session.

We will continue to keep you up to date with emails and regular items posted into "Latest news". Feel free to use the Blog and our Facebook page to communicate with your fellow members. Stay safe!

Recent events:

Wednesday 20th - "Anatomy - the bee's inner secrets" an  exploration of the bee’s alimentary, respiratory, circulation, nervous and reproduction system - presented by Alan Riach 7.30 via Zoom.

Wednesday 15th September - Andy Watson presented the topic " What type of hive should I get?" Discussion on all of the models; pros and cons. Interesting to hear about the "odd-ball" hives, as he described them, which are novelties and often appear for sale the year after beekeepers have lost interest and their bees!

Saturday 28th August -  Fairfield Apiaries. 2pm. Another excellent meeting in almost perfect conditions - it was too hot! It was a pity that many members were unable to take the opportunity of three tutors being available, Barbara, Pam and Arthur.

Saturday 21st August - Fairfield Apiary, Orrin Bridge 2pm - hosted by Anne and Arthur Hill. A break in the weather allowed for Arthur and Pam to open a couple of hives with the rest of the afternoon spent out of the rain in the Honey Shed discussing preparations for the winter and a question and answer session. An historical occasion as most of the 17 participants virtually all had never met each other before! No wonder we won't forget the effect of Covid on our llives.

Memberships are renewed as from the April AGM. A link to the membership/ renewal form can be found on the "Joining the Association" page. A new password will be forwarded to you by the Membership Secretary.
