Processing waste wax foundation

May 2020. Recently Pam has been processing her waste wax foundation and I have 'grabbed' a few photos of the various stages. Not very well planned but hopefully will give a flavour of what is involved. The filter is cut off the pudding basin and burnt on the Rayburn - a vital piece of equipment.

The individual thin discs will be re-processed through the system until one large block is cast.

A pudding basin inside some tights which is the filtering material! You can just make out the knot at the side.

Remembering to make a depression in the filter the mixture of melted wax, water and rubbish is poured through the filter.

Another view showing how little wax is achieved from a single melting.

The final stage; no filter is needed and the fine debris is now ready to be scraped from the block.
